Submitting to App Review

The beta has been quite uneventful, which is honestly exactly what you want. A couple of translation bugs were found and fixed — things like Swedish copy that didn't quite read naturally, or keys that had snuck through without being translated. A crash was caught and fixed too, a Core Data issue that only surfaced on devices that had recently been rebooted before being unlocked for the first time. Not the kind of thing you'd easily find yourself.

What has been harder than expected is finding beta testers. You'd think it would be easy to get people to try a free app but it turns out most people just aren't that interested in installing something that isn't on the App Store yet. Getting strangers to engage meaningfully with a beta is a different challenge altogether — one I haven't fully solved.

Still, the builds have been stable and I feel good about what's going out. All three apps — My Next: Todo, My Next: List, and My Next: Note — are now in their final release candidates and being submitted to App Review. Whatever happens next, it's an exciting milestone. These apps have come a long way in a short time and it will be something to see them live on the App Store.
